St. Catherine of Siena School
From Our Principal
Greetings St. Catherine Families,
It was great to see all the fun Valentine's parties around the building yesterday. Thank you to all of you who helped to plan and facilitate an afternoon of games and treats for our students! A few things to mention this week...
Registration & State of the School Presentations: This week is our annual State of the School presentation - 2 sessions are offered: tonight, February 15th @ 7:00, or tomorrow, February 16th at 7:00 in Victoria Hall. Please plan to attend one of these sessions. This is a very important school event, as I will be presenting information about the current state of our school and sharing our upcoming projects and goals. Families will also receive their registration packets for the 2017-18 school year after the presentation. Registrations for current families are due by Friday, March 3rd. Open registration for new families begins on Monday, March 6th. If you need to take advantage of childcare tonight, we do still have some spots available. Please RSVP as soon as possible to Leslie at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Mid-Year Conferences: Thursday and Friday, March 2-3 are noon dismissal days for teacher/parent conferences. This is an optional conference, which teachers or parents can request. If you would like to set up a conference with a teacher, please email him/her directly to schedule a time. Thank you!
Middle School Social Workshop: This Friday, we are excited to welcome Greg Smallidge, a counselor that works with Julie Metzger (whom you may remember has visited our school several times to host similar workshops). Greg will be conducting a 'social workshop' with the middle school students, during which they will talk about the challenges of being a pre-teen/early teen and discuss strategies for navigating social situations. Thank you to Parent Club for sponsoring this workshop!
Screenagers Movie: Please join us and take advantage of a free community viewing of the popular, award winning film, Screenagers: Growing up in the Digital Age on Wednesday, March 8 th 6:30 pm in Victoria Hall. Do you often feel like throwing your kid's digital devises out the window? "Award-winning SCREENAGERS probes into the vulnerable corners of family life, including the director's own, and depicts messy struggles, over social media, video games, academics and internet addiction. Through surprising insights from authors and brain scientists, solutions emerge on how we can empower kids to best navigate the digital world." This film is appropriate for kids 5th grade and up and kids are encouraged to attend. This is a community event, so friends from other schools and communities are welcome to join us, as well. The official movie flyer is available here.
Have a great St. Catherine day!
