Welcome class of 2017, students and parents. Eighth grade is full of new experiences, some firsts, some lasts. We look forward to camps days, electives, assemblies, field trips, retreats, high school, the talent show, lots of laughs, learning and yes, D.C. That's the short list, so much to experience. On this page you will find important dates and curriculum updates. Updates are sent bi-weekly to parents, please make sure to check your emails.
September /U.S. History
This year things are a bit different because it is an election year, a historical election year. We began looking at the candidates last spring. This fall we will study the functions of the electoral college, what events in history created the electoral college and how it works in the election. Students will be expected to watch all presidential debates and be prepared to discuss their critiques. Students will deepen their understanding of the U.S. Constitution and is global significance in the 1800s.
September / Religion:
In religion, students begin the year setting classroom guidelines and expectations. We work together to build a classroom community where everyone feels comfortable to be themselves and express their ideas respectfully and openly. Students will also identify the Seven Catholic Social Justices and ways in which they are practiced today.
