Welcome class of 2018, students and parents. Eighth grade is full of new experiences, some firsts, some lasts. We look forward to camps days, electives, assemblies, field trips, retreats, high school, the talent show, lots of laughs, learning and yes, D.C. That's the short list, so much to experience. On this page you will find important dates and curriculum updates. Updates are sent bi-weekly to parents, please make sure to check your emails.
September /U.S. History
Students will begin the year by taking the US citizenship test. It always tends to be an eye opener for all of the students, what they do know, and what they do not know but they feel they should. We spend a short time reviewing the end of the American Revolutionary War which brings us up to speed in the study of the creating of the Constitution. From the Constitution we learn of the three branches of government, as well as Washington's reluctance to accept the role of president.
September / Religion:
In religion, students begin the year setting classroom guidelines and expectations. We work together to build a classroom community where everyone feels comfortable to be themselves and express their ideas respectfully and openly. Students will also identify the Seven Catholic Social Justices and ways in which they are practiced today.
