What is Scrip?

Scrip is Parent Club’s largest fund raiser.  As a non-profit entity, St. Catherine’s Parent Club is able to purchase gift cards and certificates to most major retailers, grocery stores, gas stations, and restaurants at a discount.  We then sell them to our school and parish community at face value.  The cards we purchase are essentially the same as if you purchased them directly from the retailer.

What is my obligation with regards to Scrip?

For the 2012-2013 school year K-8 families are required to purchase $1,000 of scrip and Pre-school families are required to purchase $250 of scrip.  If you prefer not to participate in the scrip program, you can buy-out of your scrip obligation for $150.

How do I participate in the Scrip program?

1.      Standing Orders: Sign up for a standing order and you will automatically receive your scrip home in your communication envelope twice per month.  This is a great way to participate using cards that you use on a consistent basis (grocery, gas, coffee stores).  You can sign up using the Standing order form on the school website, or contact Katie Fleming at kjfleming@comcast.net.

2.      One-time Order:  One-time scrip order forms are attached to the Wednesday newsletter approximately every other week.  Just send back your order form with a check by Friday and you will receive your scrip home the following Wednesday.  This is a great way to order gifts or cards that you don’t need on a consistent basis.  If there is something you would like to purchase and you don’t see it on the form, look on line at www.glscrip.com for a full list of retailers that we can order.  Contact Cindy Kimmel at ckimmel@gmail.com with questions about one-time orders.  3.      On-line Sales:  Please see the school website for lots more information about scrip on-line!

• Shop with Scrip – order your scrip on-line and your cards will be delivered to school.
• Reload – Reload your scrip cards on-line any time of day and the balance will be added by the next business day.
• Scrip Now! – Purchase your e-cards online and get your scrip certificate within minutes.
• Presto-Pay – sign up to have your on-line purchases taken from your checking account.

 4.      eScrip: Register your Safeway and/or credit cards with eScrip.  It will capture certain purchases automatically and our school gets credit.  This is a great way to capture your grocery purchases when you run out of your grocery scrip.  You can register at www.escrip.com, group name = St. Catherine School, Group ID# = 4539961.  You can sign up family and friends too!

Please note :
a.      eScrip Safeway purchases only earn a 1% contribution as opposed to a 4% contribution if you purchase scrip cards, therefore only half of your eScrip purchases will count towards your annual scrip purchase obligation. 
b.      You must renew your eScrip account annually!  If you currently participate in eScrip, just log into your account at www.escrip.com and click on the renewal button on the front page.

Scrip Purchases On-line!  Your way!  Your time! We are excited to announce some new programs that will make using scrip for your purchases easier for you!

Shop with Scrip allows you to input your own scrip orders and have the payment come directly out of your bank account using “PrestoPay”.  The cards you order will be batched with other families and released to the school approximately every other week. Your order will then be sent home in your Wednesday communication envelope.  This is similar to our “One-Time Order” process, but you will not need to fill out an order form or send a check to school.  There will be a calendar available on the school website so you will know when the orders will be released.  Although the scrip website refers to paying with a check, you MUST use PrestoPay to utilize ShopWithScrip, Reloads, or ScripNow!

RELOADS!  The Shop with Scrip program allows you to reload a card you already have.  If you place reload orders and pay with PrestoPay™, generally, orders placed before 3 pm Eastern Time will be activated by the next business day.  In order to reload, you must use a gift card that was purchased through St. Catherine’s scrip program.  Reloads can be processed for almost any denomination, so you can choose how much and how often to reload!  Many of the major retailers offer a reload option and more are joining everyday!

Do you shop at Amazon, Land’s End, Home Depot or the Gap?  Unexpected shopping you wish you could have done with scrip?  No problem.  With ScripNow! you can easily and quickly order and download eCards from a growing number of retailers, and benefit your school.  Each one is also available to be sent to a friend or loved one as an eGift.  ScripNow! can be delivered and used in minutes simply by using PrestoPay.  More retailers are being added all the time!

Presto-Pay™      A convenient way for your family to pay for your scrip purchases online at the time you place your order.  Your checking account will automatically be debited for the face value amount of your order, plus a small convenience fee of $0.39.  In order to take advantage of the on-line scrip ordering options described above, it is a requirement for families to sign up and pay using PrestoPay – payment by check is NOT an option.  There is a separate process to sign up for PrestoPay after you have created an account on ShopWithScrip.com.  It does take a few days to activate your presto pay account, so be sure to sign up before you need it!

Getting Started :
You must create an account on shopwithscrip.com AND sign up for presto pay!

Go to Shopwithscrip.com and look for the “Family Sign Up!” box on the left hand side of the screen and click on “create account”.  St. Catherine’s  Enrollment Code is: 9DCL38BC87L.  When you sign up for PrestoPay, you will be given an “approval code”, which you must provide to the school’s scrip coordinator in order to complete your enrollment.  Please send your code to Chelsey Samonte at chelseys@comcast.net.  A user guide with detailed instructions for signing up and using Shop with Scrip is available here.
