A = assign, D = due
Welcome to my assignments calendar. I want to thank all those who have made this possible. Parents, notice that assignments may be updated during the week if the schedule requires. Short week of February 19-22; revised 2/16/08. Dear parents; we are ankle deep in mucus here and two weeks ago the supply of tissue the students brought in September ran out. Today, I brought in a box and did a little demonstration. I asked them how many had runny noses. Virtually all hands were raised. How many wanted tissue? Hands raised and waved frantically. Then I held up the box I brought. "I brought this in to show you how we might solve this particular problem. What does my bringing in this box suggest to you as a possible solution?" Several hands shot into the air: I pointed at one--the owner shouted "The seventh graders have stolen all our kleenix!!" "The seventh graders," I assured him, "do not go back into the storage room, and certainly not into your bin where you keep your kleenix. But rather than falsely accusing others of theft, what does my bringing in this box suggest as a possible solution?" Other hands shot up; I pointed; a high voice squealed: "They steal everything; we should beat them up!!" Seeing where things were headed I decided to capitalize on the situation and began a discussion of Yugoslavian politics, but parents, we need more tissue.
